Make no mistake about it: Virginia Strom Precourt was a dog person—at different times in her life, a Boston Terrier person, a Schnauzer person (twice), a mutt person, a Shih Tzu person, and, finally, a miniature-Dachshund person. But she rarely considered dogs—not even puppies—for her art. In front of her easel, Virginia was a cat person. She loved the animal’s agility, its confidence, its intelligence, its curiosity. And, in Rome, she seemed pleased to find a cat who shared her passion for exploring the past.
