Kokoro, the expression of a fully realized life, comes from the culture of Japan. In fact, there is no English translation for the term: It is a Japanese concept that combines heart, spirit, soul, and mind in one indivisible force. Virginia Strom Precourt considered her visual definition of kokoro one of her finest pieces of art. She hung it inside her front door, where it regularly reminded her of the joy of a fully realized life. The painting also demonstrates the full diversity of a style she spent decades curating and perfecting.
