Virginia Strom Precourt discovered the foothills of the Berkshires late in her life when her youngest son and his wife moved to Ashfield. As accustomed as she was to the woods that surrounded her studio in Dover, Massachusetts, her artist’s eye couldn’t resist the way the morning light hit the bright spots in Kathryn’s booming Ashfield garden.
