Just beyond a copse of trees outside her Dover, Massachusetts studio, a pond was the source of springs that ran throughout the woods in Virginia Strom Precourt’s backyard. The rich soil of the forest would filter—and color—the streams, which almost seemed to float from one rock-bound eddy to another.
