Virginia Strom Precourt worked with a group of scientists and artists at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston to study the preservation of fine art. And, from that research, she developed a “polyfresco” medium that reflected her studies of ancient frescoes in destinations such as Italy, Bulgaria and Romania. Virginia’s mixture of polyvinyl acetate with ground stone provided a durable panel for her work. And pieces such as “From Space” were buried in the New England woods for as long as two years, the seasons adding even more resiliency to the finished work, and enhancing the colors and composition of the art.
